We have an immediate opening for a Software Engineer based in our headquarters in Burlington, MA. Initially new employees will work primarily remotely due to Covid-19 until it is safe to return to the office. Analytics Engineer
To support our growth, we are looking for an Analytics Engineer to develop and apply innovative and scalable algorithms to identify performance improvement opportunities in wind turbines and wind plants. It is critical that you are able to translate identified anomalous operations of wind turbines into robust and scalable algorithms and further be able to produce high quality code. You will need to be an innovative thinker who is able to apply principles of data science, numerical methods and statistics to large datasets. You need to be excited about analyzing large datasets to develop algorithms, test cases and writing good quality code. The position requires attention to detail in addition to innovative thinking and problem solving ability. A validation-driven development mindset is key—always looking for possible ways things break or could return anomalous results. You will need to be well organized, be able to innovate under deadlines and be able to collaborate effectively with others.

At WindESCo you will be expected to innovate, demonstrate superiority of potential innovations through rigorous testing and validation, and execute by turning those innovative concepts into production systems. Job Responsibilities
● Analyze and model turbine behavior using time series SCADA data.

● Develop, code, and test algorithms to turn data into knowledge and deliver the next-generation of optimization solutions.

● Identify validation cases to highlight false negative and false positive results and drive the continuous improvement of algorithms.

● Find anomalies in data, identify general concepts, and automate this process with Python.

● Create data visualizations and analysis tools.                                                                                                                                                           

● Write production quality code with high standards for quality, maintainability, and automated testing.

● Use Git version control to effectively collaborate with other team members.

Requirements
● You are passionate about analyzing large datasets and translating them into information.

● You are an innovative thinker who loves applied problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

● You are also passionate about code quality and testing.

● Master’s degree in STEM and 2+ years relevant experience or a Ph.D. in STEM and a relevant dissertation topic or experience.

● Experience applying machine learning techniques.

● Demonstrated programming skills in Python using Pandas, SciPy and scikit-learn.

● Understanding of statistics and the quantification of uncertainty.

● Basic understanding of newtonian physics, mechanics, electrical energy, aerodynamics, and control systems.

● Strong technical communication and organization skills.

● Eligible to work in the US..

Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following:
● Analyzing wind turbine SCADA data

● Wind turbine structural design, aerodynamics, controls or power electronics

● Signal analysis and control systems design

● Expertise in fluid mechanics and flow simulation

● Relational databases (SQL) and data lakes

● Distributed and cloud-based computing systems (especially AWS)

● Data visualization and graphics design experience for communication of technical information
